Fernando

Of Ecuadorian origin (on my father's side) and Colombian (on my mother's), I am 32 years old. I was born in the picturesque village of Pimampiro, located in one of Ecuador's most charming Andean regions.

During my youth, I had the opportunity of living in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest for a few years. At that time, I didn't consider it an opportunity, but as a time total isolation.

Later, my family and I moved to the capital, Quito, where I was able to study and work. I started working in the hotel industry in 2014, and at the same time I began learning English, which helped me develop a passion for the sector.

In 2021, I joined the lovely ITK family, an agency specialized in the French-speaking market, where I devoted myself to developing a new market in English while perfecting my French.

Today, in parallel with the development of ITK's English-speaking market, I'm in charge of galapeos.com's quality department. I'll take care of all your specific needs after you've booked.

Fernando, what are your passions?

My passions are cultural, particularly the history and ancestral traditions of the Andean and Amazonian regions. I also have a keen interest in extreme sports.

What do you do in your free time?

In my spare time, I like to play the guitar, watch sports videos on YouTube and go for walks with my son... wherever that may be.

Which region of Ecuador do you like the most?

I have a particular love for the Amazon. I'm fascinated by its biodiversity, the hikes through its dense, unpredictable vegetation, and the unique charm of its nights enlivened by the sounds of animals. The vast rivers that meander through the forest and, above all, the people who live in this hostile environment with apparent ease are elements that captivate me.

I also really appreciate the colorful Andes of northern Ecuador, where volcanoes and lagoons are home to people who preserve their ancestral customs through simple exchanges and conversations, creating a veritable cultural mosaic.

Finally, the colonial center of Quito also holds a special place in my heart. It's a historical jewel with so many nooks and crannies yet to be discovered.

María

I was born in 1993 in Quito, the capital of the Chagras (Ecuador's equivalent of cowboys). It's also where I grew up. Now 30, I still live in Quito with my husband and our son, Pablo, who is my priority and my joy in life.

My career path has always been in the tourism sector. For around 7 years, I worked in hotels in Quito, before joining the local travel agency ITK in 2021 as Operations Assistant.

My role as Operations Assistant at ITK is essential for organizing and coordinating trips for clients, most of whom are French-speaking. My knowledge of Quito and the surrounding area is an invaluable asset in providing travelers with unique and memorable experiences.

Indeed, Quito is a fascinating city, offering a wealth of history, culture and magnificent landscapes.

Today, I'm in charge of galapeos.com's reservations, always in contact with Antoine, who was already my manager at ITK voyage.

Antoine

Born in Ecuador in 1995 to French parents serving as doctors in a Santo Domingo de Los Colorados dispensary, I've always been at the crossroads of diverse cultures. Now, at 28, I reside in Paris with my beloved fiancée and our endearing cat.

Having graduated from CentraleSupelec, I ventured into the world of freelance development, crafting mobile applications and websites with passion. Each project is an exciting challenge, and through code, I connect with users worldwide.

Outside of work, I harbor a deep love for travel and cinema. My recent trip back to Ecuador, especially the Andes, was not only a journey of discovery but also a celebration, as I got engaged amidst its majestic landscapes. Carolina

Born in 1979 in Portoviejo, a town on Ecuador's Pacific coast, Carolina lived there until the age of 7. She then moved to Quito, the Ecuadorian capital, where she studied computer science, focusing more specifically on computer software design.

However, finding no fulfillment in her work, Carolina decided to change fields to find greater satisfaction. She first worked as an administrator at the Mango Gourmet restaurant, where her husband, Lex, is the manager and creator.

Carolina has been married since 2007, and from this beautiful union was born their son Elias, aged 17. Elias is currently studying at Quito's French school, La Condamine.

Although Carolina speaks only Spanish, she is keen to learn French, a goal she hopes to achieve soon! For the moment, her main role is to manage operations at Galapeos with great professionalism. She takes care of bookings and makes sure that trips run smoothly on site.

Pierre

Originally from Sablé in Sarthe, Pierre began his university journey at the IUT Techniques de Commercialisation (Institute of Business Techniques) at the University of Angers before embarking on a ferry to Portsmouth, England, where he pursued his Bachelor's Degree in Languages and International Business. After obtaining his BA, Pierre returned to France for a final year of study at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Rennes in Brittany.

Following his time in Rennes, Pierre decided to explore new horizons and ended up in the charming town of Marburg, Germany, before joining the German company Lufthansa in Frankfurt as a Customer Relationship Manager.

In 2009, he visited Antoine in Ecuador, where they both decided to start their first inbound travel agency a few months later.

In 2012, Pierre headed to a new destination: Argentina, where he established a new inbound travel agency, ITK Voyage, first in Buenos Aires and later in his beloved province of Misiones in the north of the country.

In 2022, Antoine and Pierre jointly embarked on the Galapeos project.

Pierre, what are your passions?

My main passions are military history, antiquities, psychogenealogy, and martial arts. I also enjoy water sports (especially Wing foil) and rugby a lot.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with friends over good craft beers, going on excursions in the Misiones forest, discovering the many waterfalls that characterize this beautiful region of Argentina, and swimming in the silence of the subtropical forest.

Which region of Ecuador do you like the most?

The Galapagos Archipelago. From Darwin's expedition to travel documentaries, the Galapagos have always been present in my mind. Upon arriving there, I was not disappointed! The concentration of its fauna and flora is impressive! Sharing dinner on a boat with other passengers while navigating the equatorial waters and gazing at the starry sky, free from any pollution, remains one of my best travel memories!

Antoine

Antoine, born in Sarthe (France) and of Breton origin (a region close to his heart), began his language studies at the University of Rennes in 2003. Two years later, he joined the professional university for leisure, environment, sport and tourism (LEST) in Valence. He then went on to study at the University of Chambéry (IMUS), where he obtained a Master's degree in management and economics, with a specialization in tourism.

To validate his master's degree, Antoine completed a 6-month internship in Mozambique. There, he gained fundamental experience in tourism, working for an incoming travel agency that organized diving and safari trips. He then moved Quito, the capital of Ecuador, where he worked for over a year in a new incoming travel agency. This enabled him to specialize in travels to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

Then, together with Pierre, he created ITK voyage in 2010, which offers tailor-made tours in Ecuador and in the Galapagos archipelago.

In 2014, Antoine met Alexandra, an Ecuadorian, who became his wife. They now have three children: Loan, Alana and Doménica.

Passionate about his adopted country, and taking advantage of the Covid crisis to give himself time for reflection, Antoine realized that there were no tools to easily book a cruise to the Galapagos Islands. He himself, as a professional, is sometimes at a loss when trying to figure out what cruise operators have to offer. So, confined and with no possibility of receiving travelers given the health situation at the time, he began working on designing a platform to sell online cruises to the Galapagos Islands. The idea was to offer a comprehensive range of cruises, and to give people the opportunity to book this service in just a few clicks.

From now on, Antoine will jointly manage the ITK voyage and galapeos.com teams.

Antoine, what are your passions?

My passions include sport in general, especially nature sports such as trekking, climbing, glacier ascents and sailing, as well as cycling and soccer. I also enjoy traveling, discovering new cultures and admiring beautiful landscapes.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, trekking with friends, running, Wing foiling, listening to music and watching the Tour de France in July.
